Concerning the place of the skull, a tradition has come down to me from the Hebrews that the body of Adam was buried there; so that ‘as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive,’ in order that in the place where the head of the human race lay buried, there the resurrection might be accomplished for all through Christ.
Origen, Commentary on Matthew, Fragment 126
