A Loinvre Curation on the Nishikawaguchi Venus
Welcome, distinguished guests, to one of The Loinvre Museum’s crowning marble achievements: The Venus of Nishikawaguchi Singing and Dancing in a Tavern.
This sculpture marks a supreme zenith of Hellenistic art, where the raw sensuality of classical antiquity meets, in a miraculous synthesis, the localized tavern culture of the Far East. What immediately arrests the viewer’s gaze is the monumental cylindrical vessel consuming her head—an attribute academically classified as the ‘Nishikawaguchi-type jar’. The goddess of beauty is carved here in a state of ultimate ecstasy, upending the vessel over her head to drain every drop of fine nectar during a Dionysian revel.
Inheriting the aesthetic traditions of Classical Greece, her fluid S-curve silhouette—born of an exquisite contrapposto—is enhanced by the technique of ‘wet drapery’, which clings closely to her form and accentuates the youthful vitality of her flesh. As she raises her left hand with supple grace, singing and dancing to a joyful beat, her dynamic posture seems to fill the quiet gallery with an echoing strain of rapture.
In submerging her face into the vessel, abandoning reason to embrace total liberation, this composition signifies an escape from the social strictures of the ancient polis. Simultaneously, it stands as a sublime hymn to raw humanity, set against the chaotic sanctuary of Nishikawaguchi. Bathed in the gentle rays streaming from the high windows, this sacred figure harmonizes the divine and the profane in exquisite balance. We invite you to contemplate her magnificence at your leisure.

Let food be thy medicine🍌
Over time, as my age and lifestyle shifted, I decided to re-evaluate my daily meal portions and eating habits.
Alongside my usual water and tea, I’ve taken a liking to sparkling water diluted with apple cider vinegar. Its dry, crisp profile makes it a great substitute for sugary soft drinks and alcohol. However, because vinegar is highly acidic, I limit myself to a maximum of two tablespoons a day and always dilute it well to protect my stomach and teeth.
My meals primarily rely on a pre-made meal delivery service that offers vegetable-forward dishes designed under a nutritionist’s guidance. For carbs, I alternate daily between mochi-barley rice, buckwheat noodles (soba), and soy products like tofu. Since getting sufficient protein naturally curbs hunger, I consciously prioritize protein-rich ingredients. When I crave something sweet, I opt for fruit, keeping the portion to about a daily handful. On a side note, bananas are said to be quite effective for insomnia.
To avoid the stress of overly strict dietary rules, I allow myself to enjoy whatever I like two days a week, keeping a healthy sense of balance.
Since adopting this routine, my skin condition has noticeably improved and my stomach discomfort has subsided—likely thanks to better gut health and metabolism. My weight has also drifted down steadily and effortlessly.
While I have always enjoyed cooking, I haven’t formally studied nutrition. Moving forward, I want to keep refining a sustainable dietary routine that fits me best, taking guidance from medical specialists and registered dietitians along the way.
